Is your facility available for all college students?
Absolutely! If you’re enrolled in college, you’re welcome to apply for housing.
What is the cost of a room per student?
Premium Room Rate:
- $515/month per student (August- April)
- $249/month per student (May-July)
Standard Room Rate:
- $495/month per student (August- April)
- $249/month per student (May-July)
All rooms are double occupancy and prices includes utilities: electric, water, gas and Internet!
Cable is available but at additional cost to the student, who is responsible for ordering the service and paying their own bill.
What are the differences between Standard and Premium rooms?
Premium rooms are more spacious and larger than Standard rooms.
Is a security deposit required?
A security deposit equal to one month’s rent cost at the August- April term rate will be required upon signing of the lease.

Is this student housing affiliated with USM?
Friendship Oak Village is privately owned and operated by Coastal Village Suites LLC and is not affiliated with the University of Southern Mississippi or any other college/university.
How do I apply for a room?
Applying for a room is easy! Click where you see the ‘Apply Today’ button (or just click here), complete the application and pay the $50 non-refundable processing fee at the time of submission.
Will housing be located north or south of the railroad tracks?
The facility is located North of the railroad tracks.
When can I move in?
We currently have availability and accept applications at any time. Whether you need to move in this week or next year, simply fill out your application today to Join The Village!
Is alcohol permitted?
No. Alcohol is strictly prohibited in the facility or on facility grounds.
Can I choose my own roommate?
We will try and fulfill roommate requests to the best of our ability dependent upon room availability. We cannot guarantee roommate selection.
Is a full kitchen available?
Friendship Oak Village has one common kitchenette area equipped with microwave.
What will be the room/bathroom setup between male and female residents?
One restroom will be shared per two rooms with same-sex residents.
What furniture is provided for each room?
All rooms will be provided with bed, mattress, dresser, chair, desk for each resident.
What are the benefits of being an RA?
We will begin taking applications for Resident Assistants for the 2019-2020 school year on January 15, 2019. As a Resident Assistant, you will receive free rent. If you are interested in learning about the responsibilities and application process of becoming a Resident Assistant, and your class rank will be a Junior or above, please call (228) 304-0662.
